I can't believe that I haven't reviewed Sanchez before now because it is a really good hole-in-the-wall Mexican food restaurant.
My favorite thing about the place is the avocado salsa in the salsa bar. This is not some watered down version of avocado salsa; it is full on, thick, chunky, almost guacamole avocado salsa. Riquisima! There are lots of other options in the salsa bar and the tomatillo salsa is terrific.
The prices are amazingly low ($1.75 tacos that are overflowing with meat), the portions are grandes, the flavors are soooooo good-- even the rice and beans are outstanding.
Parking is tough, but it's tough all over LA so you learn to deal with it.
Service is friendly and fast and your food is cooked to order. Menudo on weekends!
The ceviche is huge and inexpensive as are the burritos.
This is a really nice neighborhood restaurant and it deserves your attention. -

Taqueria Sanchez is expensive for what it is. $12 for a bowl of menudo, $9 for chilaquiles (plus $3 to add eggs!), $15 for a coctel de camaron served in a plastic container. Smh. The food is okay, except for the birria. Ughh the birria was awful. They should be embarrassed to serve it. It was dry and chewy. Possibly the worst I've ever had.
The chilaquiles were spicy and tasty, but I'm not going to pay $12 for chilaquiles con huevo. The shrimp cocktail was fine too. The shrimp was fresh and deveined perfectly. Overall, it was good, but the prices are too high. I recommend El Abajeno or Tacomiendo instead (both just a few blocks away).
ps. Parking is dreadful.
pps. The horchata is really sweet :(
ppps. That avocado salsa that everyone raves about is a great bonus! (but they are stingy with chips) -

The people are nice, and the place is clean. However the food was not good, the chicken in the burrito was dry and old as were the vegetables inside.

Was craving Mexican breakfast and hadn't been here in a bit. My breakfast was a good price but wasn't very flavorful. The eggs were overcooked, the beans were bland, the chorizo was just ok. I like their salsa bar, though not mind blowing flavor wise. I will come back and try the tacos (been a long time) and see if they can bump up my review.
